Electronic books included in altKitap, Internet Archive, Open Library, Free e-Books and The National Academic Press databases are offered to readers free of charge within the framework of open access principles.
- 1. altKitap
altKitap is Turkey's online publishing house that has been publishing electronic books for free on the internet since 2000. Since the day it was founded, it has been aiming to disseminate literary and intellectual content free of charge over the internet.
- 2. Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free
It is a digital library of websites and other cultural artifacts. The Internet Archive offers free access to millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites and more.
It contains:
- 735 billion web pages
- 41 million books and texts
- 14,7 million audio recordings (including 240.000 live concerts)
- 8,4 million videos (including 2,4 million TV News)
- 4,4 million images
- There are 890,000 software programs.
- 3. Open Library
Open Library is an open, editable library catalog for creating a web page for every book ever published.
It offers free access to e-books in the categories of arts, sciences and mathematics, history, biography, business, finance, language, textbooks and social sciences.
- 4. Free-eBooks
10 fiction collections (classics, drama, humor, horror, mystery/thriller, romance, sci-fi, short stories), 11 nonfiction collections (academic, biographies, body and soul, business, computing, cookbooks, health and fitness, religion , science and mathematics, social sciences),3 audiobook collection offers free access to e-books.
- 5. The National Academies Press
The National Academies Press (NAP) publishes the publications of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. NAP publishes more than 200 publications per year on a wide range of topics in science, engineering, and medicine, providing authoritative, independently researched information on important matters in science and health policy.
