Muteferriqa

Muteferriqa is an innovative discovery platform that makes Ottoman Turkish printed works accessible in a digital environment. It offers versatile discovery capabilities, including full-text search, across nearly 35,000 books and 1,470 periodical titles published from the 18th century to the mid-20th century.

The platform provides researchers with a powerful digital archive of 7 million pages of content and 660,000 images. It consists of two main collections:

Periodicals Collection: Approximately 1,500 titles, 160,000 issues, 1 million pages

Book Collection: Nearly 35,000 books, approximately 6 million pages

Advanced search features allow queries using Ottoman Turkish, Turkish, and English words; images can be searched independently, and similar content can be discovered. Müteferriqa brings together the Ottoman printed heritage with modern technologies, providing a unique resource for academic research, education, and interdisciplinary studies.
