With the merger of village institutes with primary teacher schools, a new phase in the history of education begins. With the 1954 law, the existing village institutes were transformed into six-year primary teacher schools and these schools continued to train primary school teachers until 1974.
Ortaklar Primary Teacher Training School, the continuation of the Ortaklar Village Institute, is one of these important educational institutions.
This book, written by Ahmet Nuri Doğan and Mustafa Özmen, themselves graduates of Ortaklar Primary Teacher Training School, sheds light on the history of Ortaklar, its contribution to our education system and, above all, how it left its mark on the lives of its student teachers.
In this study, Ortaklar Primary Teacher Training School focuses on the first-hand accounts of the graduates. And through these testimonies, we witness how education, which permeates every aspect of life and enables a radical change, is not limited to the teaching period, but how it is transformed into a permanent example in primary teacher schools under the guidance of the unique experience inherited from the village institutes.
