Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Information and Document Management (IMM) Department held its 6th course in the Central Library. 

Istinye University, in cooperation with Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Information and Document Management (IMM) Department, held six different courses in the fields of librarianship and information access services on December 17, 2024 at the Central Library. This collaboration was considered as an important step in reinforcing theoretical knowledge in a real-world environment and developing students' professional skills. Within the scope of the courses, practical work was carried out on topics such as library management, information access services and archive organization. Students had the opportunity to use modern librarianship tools and gained experience through direct interaction with library staff. This process once again demonstrated the contribution of inter-university partnerships to professional education. The courses offered at Istinye University Central Library within the scope of the cooperation are listed below:

Before the event, the new library building of Istinye University was introduced to the participants and a library tour was organized. Afterwards, library librarians explained various library services to the students in practice. A total of 26 students from three different classes participated in these lessons.

Istinye University Library contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals

Istinye University Library provided trainings to the students of Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Information and Document Management Department with its activities contributing to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. In this context, activities were carried out especially under the titles of Article 4: Quality Education and Article 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Going beyond traditional services, Istinye University Library provided students with a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience on the following topics:

 

  • Institutional Academic Archive Studies
  • Web Page Management
  • Design Studies on Canva
  • Newsletter Preparation Activities
  • Bibliometric Studies
  • Collection Development Policies

Thanks to these practical courses held at Istinye University Library, students had the opportunity to experience the information they learned in theory in practice. They gained knowledge and experience in important areas of communication such as librarianship, archive management, research and design by examining services they had not met before. The practical training opportunity made a significant contribution to the development of students' professional skills.
