Announcement | About iConference Doctoral Colloquium

Dear Doctoral Students,

Below you will find the information we received about the application and participation to the iConference PhD Colloquium.

This year, iConference 2025, the iSchool annual meeting, will take place online from March 11-14, 2025 and physically from March 18-22, 2025, hosted by Indiana University.

The iConference Doctoral Colloquium offers PhD students the opportunity to present their work, interact with peers and academics, and open the door to important collaborations. Doctoral Colloquia for the Europe & Africa and Asia-Pacific region, including our country, will be held online.

 

APPLICATION

PhD students wishing to participate will be selected by an evaluation committee. Application materials must be submitted as a single PDF file to the ConfTool application system by October 20, 2024. All materials must be in English and include the following two sections:

 

1. A short introduction with the following information

o Identity of the applicant, affiliated institution, supervisor(s), (tentative) thesis title, region, preferred mode of participation (physical/online)

o Applicant's interest in the colloquium

o Current stage of the applicant's graduate career (just started, at the course stage, completed courses, thesis stage, etc.)

o Specific information about the expectations from the colloquium and what the applicant hopes to achieve by attending the colloquium

2. A text of maximum 500 words explaining the thesis/project

o PhD colloquium co-chairs can direct students' work to be presented as a poster or paper.

 

PARTICIPATION

Those accepted to PhD colloquia will be expected to fulfill the following obligations upon acceptance:

 

 Registering for the iConference during the early registration period and attending the full conference (there is a discounted registration fee for students).

· Prepare a 5-page (single-spaced) PhD research abstract document.

· Prepare a short presentation to be given during the event.

· Read and critique selected research abstracts of other PhD colloquium participants.

· Prepare any questions they would like to ask their PhD colloquium mentors, either formally on the panel or informally throughout the day.
