Dear İstinye Family,
We are sharing below the information provided by EKUAL regarding quota under the TÜBİTAK-Springer Nature Open Access Agreement.
As you know, the “TÜBİTAK-Springer Nature Open Access Agreement” covers the 2024–2026 period and includes a specific quota of open access (OA) articles for each year. As of June 24, 2026, there are “45” OA article slots remaining from the quota allocated for 2026, and it is anticipated that the remaining quota will be exhausted within a few days.
Article submissions received by the TÜBİTAK account are evaluated based on the date and the sequence number assigned upon entry into the system. Articles that are not evaluated before the quota is exhausted will not be approved. If the authors of these articles wish to have their articles published in AE, they may do so by paying the APC themselves; or, if the journal is hybrid, they will have the option of closed-access publication without paying the APC.
For journals that transition from the hybrid model to the full open access/gold model during the agreement period, since the option for closed-access publication is not available, authors must cover the APC themselves.

Negotiations with the publisher regarding the continuation of the agreement for 2027 and beyond have begun, and the goal is to finalize the agreement before the end of the year.
