To ensure the responsible, ethical, and reliable use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) technologies, which have become an integral part of scientific processes, TÜBİTAK has published an important guide: “Guide to the Responsible and Reliable Use of GAI in Support Processes.”
Key Highlights of the Guide:
• Transparency Requirement: When using GAI in preparing project applications, the necessity to declare this transparently and the manner of declaration.
• Protection of Confidentiality: Strict rules regarding the protection of unpublished research data, confidential information, and personal data. Entering such sensitive content into external AI tools is strictly prohibited.
• Emphasis on Responsibility: Although AI is a tool, the principle that the applicant is ultimately responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical appropriateness of the content produced.
• Evaluation Processes: The guide also details strict usage restrictions applicable to evaluators (referees/panelists) in order to protect the confidentiality of the evaluation processes.
As a library, we believe that access to and production of information should proceed within the framework of ethical rules. This guide serves as a reference for all researchers, project teams, and evaluators involved in TÜBİTAK support processes.
