Dear İstinye University Family,
We remember Necati Tosuner—whose unique voice and masterful pen defined Turkish literature—with respect, longing, and compassion, as his passing on February 23, 2026, has cast a deep shadow of sorrow over our literary world.
Amid the sorrow and sense of responsibility that this great loss brings, we would like to share with you a development of immense value for our university and our cultural memory. Following the passing of this master writer, his personal book collection—which he amassed throughout his life and which embodies the spirit of his intellectual world and his writing desk—has been donated by his family to the İstinye University Library.
A writer’s personal library is the most tangible map of their intellectual world, sources of inspiration, and literary journey. It is a great source of pride and honor for our university to host the legacy of a cornerstone of Turkish literature such as Necati Tosuner, to preserve these valuable works, and to pass them on to future generations.
Following the meticulous classification and cataloging processes—conducted in accordance with international standards by our Department of Information Resources and Library Services—the collection transferred to our library will be made available to our researchers, students, and all literature enthusiasts.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the esteemed Tosuner family for entrusting this priceless legacy to our university, thereby making a unique contribution to both our academic community and our country’s cultural heritage.
With the awareness that we will keep the memory of our master writer alive on our shelves and in the minds of the young, we announce this with respect in his memory.
